The group at the top of Wolstonbury Hill during our weekend away to the South Downs.
South Downs - November 2006
Some pictures from Katie's birthday party on the Saturday night. Not for the faint-hearted!
Walk Cambridge Goes Ape!
Our Walk Cambridge team decided to do some monkeying about in the trees, here's a few seconds of video (click the image above for a WMV file, and here for an MPG) showing some of the acrobatics. There wasn't any sound, so I added some to add to the atmosphere...
GoApe - October 2006
A selection of photos from the group's trip to the GoApe adult adventure playground in Thetford Forest. Here's Irenka, just having swung into the cargo netting.
Brecon - September 2006
Quite un-Welsh weather for our long weekend in the Brecon Beacons. Three days without getting rained on and some of us were thinking of asking for our money back.
Brecon - September 2006
Heading down from Table Mountain (the other one!) on the Monday. East Anglia was experiencing flash-flooding at the time!
Dorset - August 2006
Some photos from the recent trip to Swanage and the South Dorset coast. Here's our first sight of the coast after leaving the campsite.
Charnwood Forest - August 2006
The group exploring the ruins of Bradgate House on a recent day-trip to Leicestershire.
Exmoor - April 2006
Navigating on Exmoor is a tricky business, and everyone seemed to have their own idea of where to go next
Youlgreave 2006
The gang at the bottom of "Robin Hood's Stride" on a weekend away in the Peak District.
London Canal Walk - November 2005
On a crisp day in November we walked from Camden Lock through Little Venice to Alperton. If we hadn't spent so much time in the pub we would have made it all the way to Greenford before the sun went down!
Snowdonia - June 2005
A selection of photos from the recent trip to Snowdonia. Here the group are scrambling on Y Gribin on the way up Glyder Fach. Luckily the mist meant we couldn't see just how far down it was!
Snowdonia - June 2005
The group enjoying a well earned pint later that day. Two of us look a little overwhelmed by the day's exertions.
Snowdonia - June 2005
The weather was better the next day for the scramble up Moel Siabod. Here's John pausing for breath, with the hill's Northeast Ridge in the background.
Snowdonia - June 2005
Hunstanton - May 2005
A breakwater next to Hunstanton cliffs just before the heavy shower arrived, on another popular weekend away.
London - March 2005
A popular urban walk through the centre of London's Royal Parks - culminating in the climb of Primrose Hill. Recent rain and snow had cleaned the air of pollution giving a haze free view.
Blencathra March 2005
Not actually a WalkCambridge event, but too good not to include. On a recent holiday in the Lakes, one of us met up with one of our many sister groups, Summit Good, for a scramble up Blencathra's Sharp Edge. This is a little different to the typical Cambridgeshire walk!
Malverns - February 2005
The group standing atop the Worcestershire Beacon on the Malvern ridge. Three of us had already visited the top twenty minutes earlier!
Malverns - February 2005
A short video showing us enjoying walking along the main Malvern Hills ridge on a sunny but cold morning. (Click the picture above, you'll need a media player that can handle WMV files.)
Cumbria - November 2004
This is the view from the back door of the Youth Hostel where we stayed on our last weekend away - looking across the Duddon Estuary towards the Lakeland Fells.
Cumbria - November 2004
On our weekends away, high quality cooked breakfasts are provided by our skilled team of expert chefs. Sometimes.
Cumbria - November 2004
The group pausing before the start of the climb up Black Combe on the Saturday of our weekend away
Cumbria - November 2004
A rather grayer day on Sunday, but we still managed a walk up Stickle Pike. Some of the group at the top.
Limestone Pavement
A strange woman dancing on the Limestone Pavement. Pen-y-Ghent in the background. Yorkshire, July 2004.
The legendary headtorch
Garry finds a novel use for his headtorch, as other Ramblers look on in horror. (Arundel, October 2003, after a long pub session)
Chilterns - November 2004
A misty walk around the ridgeway. We'd just clambered up a relatively slippy ridge-side before being rewarded with a bit of a view.
Thaxtead - October 2004
A sunny walk into neighbouring Essex, with some tarmac into the bargin, normally we don't all walk with our heads down like this...
Freak Snow
During this walk near to Horseheath early in 2004 we encountered a freak blizzard. Some people were better prepared than others!
View to Kinder Scout
The same trip to Castleton en route to Mam Tor we found this cliff with a jumble of rocks, with a view over to the Kinder Plateau. It was ideal for modelling outdoor gear...
Corno Grande - Italy 2004
Strictly speaking this was not part of the usual walk programme! A group
of us from the walking club decided to try our hand at this nearly 3 kilometer high mountain. With the help of some suntan lotion!
Snowdonia Lakes Walk
The walking group in September 2003 near Llyn Crafnant on the three lakes walk.
Lose Hill March 2004
The Cambridge 20s-30s walking group, on a walk up to Lose Hill near Castleton (Derbyshire). We would walk up to Mam Tor from this point on this chilly spring day.
The Cave
The monster chases the young lady from the cave! Picture taken near Castleton (Derbyshire) in 2004.
